Mya Gives Soccer a Shot

We have entered the world of youth sports!  Mya played her first season of soccer this spring.  We may have jumped the gun on that one.  This is when she liked soccer best:
Sunglasses and snacks outside.  Life is good!

She actually really liked the first half hour of each soccer "game" which was just practice - kicking the ball, running drills, etc.  But as soon as they blew the whistle to start playing that girl was done!  She didn't even want to go near the field.

Halftimes full of somersaults across the field were also a highlight for her.

We tried our best to get her to play during the games, but I don't think she was a big fan of the competition.  As you can see from the picture, she wasn't the only girl who needed a little extra parental encouragement.

We can't forget her big goal!  She scored a goal in the first game!  After that it was all downhill.  She said she didn't like trying to take the ball away from the other kids and she didn't like when they tried to take it away from her.  Needless to say, we'll be waiting a few years before making anymore attempts at soccer.

Overall we were glad we tried it, and so glad when it finally ended!
