Tahoe Reunion Part 1

We were seriously so spoiled with amazing trips this summer!  A few weeks after getting back from Disneyland we climbed back into the car for our second road trip of the summer and headed to Lake Tahoe for a family reunion with Duncan's parents, siblings and their families.

Owen did slightly better than the Disneyland road trip but still only managed to sleep for about 40 minutes.  This kid has definitely not mastered the sleeping in the car thing on long trips.

We finally got there on Sunday afternoon/evening.  Almost all the girls together (just missing Shawn)!

Mya had a blast being with her cousins non-stop!  I love that she has cousins close to her age to play with.

On Monday we headed to a hike near Emerald Bay.  It was such a beautiful place!

The hike was a bit more of a stair climb than a hike in my opinion and the kids were pretty much done by the time we made it to the lookout point.  Somebody told us there was a little mountain lake tucked in about a quarter mile up the trail though, so some of us decided to keep going and check it out.  Probably not the best idea with the kids being so worn out, but Duncan and I thought it would be okay with both kids in packs.  Owen did okay but Mya cried pretty much the whole way up.  Some nice man hiking down gave her a bag of bunny crackers and things got slightly better after that.

The lake was gorgeous!  And I'm glad we kept going, but my tired daughter and my tired pregnant body did not thank me the next day.  I should probably remember that lesson for next time and remember that sometimes it really is better to turn around instead of going the whole way up.

Parts 2 and 3 of the trip coming up soon!
